From the postcard perfect inn in the Lake District to hiking on the Isle of Skye, every stop was steeped in history, not to mention remarkably beautiful. And the food was surprisingly good, far beyond the trusty fish and chips of my last visit (when I didn’t have the benefit of expert advice).
